RT-PCR, The Gold Standard

- Testing meets the requirements of most travel restrictions and testing kits are capable of detecting the SARS-CoV-2 virus with >98% sensitivity and specificity.
- All collection sample analysis is performed by CLIA-certified, high-complexity laboratories specialized in molecular diagnostics and infectious diseases.
- Specimens are collected via nasal or oral swabs, and all testing and collections are performed under current CDC Guideline and protocols.
- RT-PCR or “Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction” is the method used to look for the RNA of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in your nose.

FAQ
Why is RT-PCR better than Rapid Antigen?
The RT-PCR test is processed at a high-complexity laboratory and is generally much more accurate than the Antigen test. The RT-PCR test recognizes the virus DNA itself, whereas the Antigen test recognizes the protein made by the virus. As such, the RT-PCR test is able to recognize the virus at a much earlier stage after exposure, whereas the Rapid Antigen test detects the presence of the virus at a later stage.
For patients that don’t have any symptoms and were exposed, we generally recommend the RT-PCR test.
What type of tests can I get?
We provide the RT-PCR test, which is the most accurate test and is accepted by most travel destinations.
We also provide Rapid Antigen tests, which provide speedy results but are less accurate than the RT-PCR tests.

The in-home COVID testing was great. I really didn’t want to go to a clinic where many people who have had COVID had been to and risk getting the virus. I was told about Premium Health and contacted them. I got tested the same day and received my results the day after right in time for my trip.

I had to make an international trip in short order and had a very busy schedule at the time. I was running out of options when I learned that Premium Health provides in-home tests. I chose the door-step option, and it didn’t take more than a few minutes and I was done with my test. This saved me a lot of time and effort, and the price was very reasonable.

I was impressed by the ability to get my test at home, but I was surprised when I heard that the test comes with a free B12 shot and 50% IV hydration in my home. I had previously visited IV hydration clinics, but never thought I could get the same treatment in my home for less than the price I had paid for in-clinic service. Strengthening my immunity was the best thing I could have done before a long flight.
